How to Prepare Your Home

First impressions are everything!  Follow these steps to make your home shine in your photos…

  • Make the beds.

  • Hide the trash cans.

  • Hide personal photos.

  • Put all the toilet seats and lids down.

  • Remove any decorations or magnets that are on the fridge.

  • Remove/Hide any pet beds, water/food bowels, toys, etc.

  • Clean and empty, as much as possible, all the counter tops in bathrooms and kitchen.

  • Remove any “clutter” inside the home, and put away toys, clothing, dishes, towels, etc.

  • Replace any burnt out lightbulbs (lamps and ceilings) and keep all lighting the same type of bulb (not a mix of fluorescent and incandescent).

  • Put pets in a safe place or take them out of the home for the session.

  • Mow the lawn, rake leaves, trim bushes.

  • When in season, flowers can add a gorgeous pop of color.

  • Remove all vehicles from the driveway and front of the house.

  • Make sure all garbage cans, hoses, garden tools etc. are put away.

  • When necessary, shovel snow from walkways, driveways, patios, decks.

  • If there is a pool, take the security gate down, uncover, and clean.

  • If you are having twilight photos taken, check that all exterior lights are working.
